Wellborn Bathroom Remodeling: The Miami Owner’s Guide

If your Wellborn bathroom vanity, cabinet, or linen tower is showing water damage, sagging frames, or failing hardware, the installed replacement cost in Miami typically runs $10,620 – $33,040 depending on scope, cabinet size, and whether countertops or plumbing move with it. We stock Wellborn-compatible replacement cabinets, doors, drawer fronts, hinges, and hardware locally, and we can usually match an existing Wellborn finish or cabinet line within the same week. Most Miami homeowners discover the failure in one of two ways: the drawer stops closing flush, or a soft-close hinge suddenly goes loud and stiff after months of humidity exposure.

What you’re looking at isn’t always a full bathroom remodel. In a lot of Wellborn cabinets, the failure is isolated: one door, one drawer box, one hinge set, or one water-swollen toe kick. The right fix depends on identifying which Wellborn series you own and how the cabinet was built before the humidity got to it. That’s the part we walk through below.

Which Wellborn Models This Applies To

Wellborn Cabinet, Inc. is an Alabama-based cabinet maker with a broad catalog across multiple series, and Miami homes from the 1990s through today carry several of them. The lineup includes the Estate, Select, Premiere, Timberlake, and HomeCrest lines, plus semi-custom Premier and full-custom options. Each series uses different door profiles, finishes, and box construction. That matters when you’re trying to match a replacement part. A drawer front from the Estate line will not match a Select drawer front in color or profile, even if both are labeled “white shaker.” The finish codes differ, the rail widths differ, and the drawer box materials are not interchangeable.

Here’s the compatibility gotcha we deal with most often in Miami: Wellborn changed edge-banding and finish application methods around 2016, so pre-2016 and post-2016 cabinets in the same “color” can look a shade different under bright bathroom light. If you’re replacing a single door on a pre-2016 Wellborn cabinet, we often take the existing door to a finish specialist for a custom match instead of ordering a factory door that will look just slightly off. On newer cabinets, factory match is usually close enough that no one but you will ever notice.

To identify what you have, open a cabinet door and look for a stamp or label on the inside of the face frame or drawer box. Wellborn typically uses a bar code tag with the order number, cabinet type, finish code, and sometimes the series name. If the label is gone, measure the drawer front height and door hinge bore spacing, and we can narrow the series from there in a single visit. For genuine OEM replacement parts, lead time runs 2 – 6 weeks depending on the series and finish. Quality aftermarket hinges and drawer slides are often available same week. We keep common Blum and Salice hinge patterns (the hardware Wellborn has used across most of its lines) on our truck stock in Miami.

Signs Your Wellborn Bathroom Remodeling Is Failing

  • Soft-close drawers slam shut or won’t close at all. Miami’s humidity swells the melamine drawer boxes just enough to bind the slides, and once the soft-close mechanism gets forced against a swollen box, the internal damper fails. You’ll hear a hard, flat thud instead of the soft pull-in.
  • Drawer faces or door edges are fuzzy, peeling, or darkened at the bottom inch. That’s edge-banding delamination from repeated steam exposure. The water wicks into the exposed MDF core at the bottom edge, and once the core swells, the banding won’t re-adhere.
  • The vanity toe kick or side panel is spongy at the base. Water sitting on a bathroom floor gets drawn up into the raw bottom edge of the cabinet. The box wood rots from the floor up. By the time the veneer feels soft, the substrate behind it is already breaking down.
  • Hinges are sagging and the door rubs the face frame or the cabinet below. Wellborn cabinet doors in higher-humidity bathrooms gradually pull hinge screws out of the door stile, especially on full-overlay doors with a single mid-hinge supporting most of the weight. Once the screw hole strips, simply re-tightening won’t hold for long.
  • Drawer or door alignment shifts after every shower season. Natural wood center panels absorb ambient moisture and return it slowly unevenly, which causes panels to cup or twist. You’ll see a gap on one corner one month, then on the opposite corner a few months later.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

An open kitchen and dining area after a remodel

For Wellborn-specific bathroom work in Miami, the installed price range is $10,620 – $33,040. At the low end, you’re replacing a single vanity cabinet, setting a new countertop and sink, and reconnecting the existing plumbing, often in the same footprint. At the high end, you’re pulling multiple cabinets, reconfiguring layout, moving a toilet or shower valve, updating tile or flooring, and handling electrical or ventilation changes.

What changes the number: whether the toilet moves, whether tile changes, whether countertop material changes from laminate to quartz or granite, and whether the existing cabinet footprint works. A straight replacement of a 48-inch Wellborn vanity with a new Wellborn-orderable or comparable cabinet typically runs $10,620 – $16,500 including tear-out, install, countertop, plumbing, and finish work. If you’re replacing only doors and drawer fronts while keeping the boxes, the number drops below that range, sometimes under $4,700 for a full door-and-front package on a double vanity.

Every price we give is a written number before we pick up tools. That covers parts, labor, haul-away, leveling, and hardware replacement if required. If the finish fails, hardware fails, or the install doesn’t hold within 365 days, we come back and make it right, in writing, at no charge.

DIY or Call Us?

You can safely check a few things yourself before calling us. Look inside the drawer box for a stamp or sticker with the order number. Check whether the cabinet frame is solid or spongy at the base. Snap a photo of the door profile and the hinge with the door open. All of that helps us quote the job accurately on the first visit.

What we don’t recommend is attempting a structural repair on a water-damaged Wellborn cabinet or trying to re-tension a soft-close mechanism that’s binding. MDF core damage doesn’t just glue back together, and you’ll spend more time and money on a repair that fails again in three months. If the damage is limited to a hinge or drawer slide, that’s a simple swap we can often do in under an hour during a visit already scheduled. But if the box is swelling or moldy, replacing the cabinet is usually the cheaper fix over two years. Call (850) 988-7559 and we’ll tell you honestly which one you’re looking at.

FAQs

How long do Wellborn bathroom cabinets last in Miami?

In an average Miami bathroom with an exhaust fan, Wellborn cabinets typically last 15 – 20 years before finish or drawer box issues start. With daily showers and no exhaust fan, the useful life can drop to under 8 years because steam saturates the boxes continuously.

Can you repair my Wellborn cabinet instead of replacing it?

Yes, if the damage is limited to hardware, hinges, drawer slides, or a single door. If the cabinet box has water swelling or rot at the base or along the vanity top, repair usually costs more than replacement in the long run. Call (850) 988-7559 for an exact assessment, and we’ll give you the written number for both paths.

How long does a Wellborn bathroom cabinet or full remodel take in Miami?

A single vanity replacement usually takes 1 – 2 days. A full bathroom remodel with moving fixtures typically runs 2 – 4 weeks from tear-out to finish, depending on tile, countertop fabrication, and inspections. We’ll give you a defined arrival window before every phase so you’re never guessing.

Do you stock Wellborn parts in Miami?

We carry common Wellborn-compatible hinge and slide patterns on our service vehicles, and we can order OEM Wellborn doors, drawer fronts, and panels with a 2 – 6 week lead time. For finish-matching older cabinets, we also work with a local Miami finish specialist for exact color matching. We also stock parts compatible with KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone products.
