Silestone Bathroom Remodeling: The Miami Owner’s Guide

Silestone bathroom remodeling in Miami typically runs $10,620 to $33,040 for a full bath, with smaller refreshes starting around $5,900. We stock Silestone-compatible materials for vanities, shower surrounds, and countertop replacements, and most installations are completed within 5 to 10 working days once materials arrive. Homeowners usually call us after spotting a crack running from the sink cutout, a dull haze that won’t polish out, or water staining along a seam that’s started to separate.

You’re likely here because a Silestone surface in your bathroom has failed in some way, and you want to know whether it’s the material, the installation, or something underneath. Sometimes it’s all three. Miami’s humidity and the settling common in older homes, especially in neighborhoods like Coconut Grove and Shenandoah, put real stress on bathroom surfaces. We’ve pulled Silestone tops off vanities and found the cabinet below had shifted a quarter inch, which cracked the stone from underneath. The fix isn’t always just about the part you can see.

This page covers what we know about Silestone in bathrooms: which models we work with, what fails first, what it costs to put right, and when you should call someone like us instead of reaching for a DIY kit.

Which Silestone Models This Applies To

Silestone is Cosentino’s quartz line, manufactured in Spain, and it comes in three finishes that behave differently in a Miami bathroom: polished, suede (matte), and volcano (textured). The finish matters more than the color when it comes to repair. A polished Silestone top that’s lost its shine can often be refinished. A suede finish that’s stained is harder to bring back because the matte surface is micro-porous and grabs soap scum and hard-water minerals.

Within the Silestone catalog, the most common bathroom applications we see are vanities in the Eternal series (colors like Calacatta Gold, Miami White, and Charcoal Soapstone) and shower curbs, thresholds, and bench tops in the Sunlit Days collection. The color name is stamped on the underside of most slabs, but if your vanity top was installed years ago, that label may be gone. Check the side edge near the backsplash for a faint laser-etched code. If you can’t find one, take a photo of the surface in natural light and email it to us before you call. It helps us match the material.

One compatibility gotcha: Silestone’s N-Boost finish, introduced around 2022, has a different surface treatment than older polished slabs. Cleaners that work fine on older Silestone can streak or haze N-Boost. If you bought a newer home in Miami with a bathroom vanity that’s already dull, the previous owner may have used the wrong cleaner on it. That’s a finish issue, not a material defect.

Penhallow Remodeling Miami is an independent remodeling contractor. We’re not affiliated with Cosentino or Silestone, but we install Silestone products regularly and source them through authorized Miami distributors.

Signs Your Silestone Bathroom Remodeling Is Failing

  • Hairline cracks radiating from the sink cutout. Quartz is hard but not flexible. If the cabinet underneath settles or the top was installed without proper shimming, the stone takes the stress and cracks at the thinnest point, which is always around the sink or faucet holes.
  • A dull, cloudy patch in the center of the vanity top. This is usually wear from daily cleaning with an abrasive cleaner or acidic bathroom spray. The polish on quartz is a surface treatment. Once it’s scratched, water and soap film settle into the micro-abrasions and make it look foggy.
  • Dark staining along a seam. Bathroom seams are sealed with color-matched epoxy, but Miami’s humidity plus repeated wetting can break that seal down over 8 to 12 years. Water wicks into the joint, darkens the stone edges, and eventually loosens the seam adhesive.
  • A shower threshold that’s cracked or loose. Silestone works well in showers, but only when the substrate (the cement board or mortar bed underneath) was built level and waterproofed correctly. If water got behind the threshold, the thinset bond fails and the piece starts to rock.
  • Yellowing or discoloration around the drain or soap dish. Quartz resists staining better than granite, but it’s not stain-proof. Hair dye, mouthwash spills, and some medicated soaps can leave marks if they sit overnight. Most of the time these can be removed with a quartz-specific poultice, but if the polish is gone, the stain has already soaked in.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

New painted shaker cabinets with an organized deep drawer

A full Silestone bathroom remodel in Miami runs $10,620 to $33,040. That range covers removing the old vanity, repairing or replacing the cabinet base, installing a new Silestone top with an undermount sink, and rebuilding the shower if the Silestone surfaces extend there. A smaller job, like swapping a single 48-inch vanity top, typically lands between $5,900 and $14,160.

Here’s what moves the number:

  • Slab size and color. Standard colors in the Eternal series are more affordable per square foot than limited or premium colors like Miami Vena or Ethereal Glow.
  • Edge profile. Eased and pencil edges are standard. Ogee or waterfall edges add fabrication time and cost.
  • Demolition surprises. In Miami homes built before the 1980s, we sometimes find the old vanity was set against plaster walls with cast-iron plumbing. Removing it without cracking the wall takes longer.
  • Shower versus vanity only. A tub-to-shower conversion using Silestone for the curb and bench adds $4,130 to $11,800 to the job depending on size and waterproofing scope.

Every quote we give is a written number before work starts. That number includes the Silestone material, fabrication, plumbing hookup, haul-away, and our 365-Day Done Right Promise. If a seam opens or a crack appears inside that window, we return and fix it at no charge. No re-inspection fee, no service call.

DIY or Call Us?

Replacing a Silestone bathroom surface is not a weekend project, and here’s the honest part: quartz is heavy. A standard 60-inch vanity top with an attached backsplash weighs between 170 and 220 pounds. Getting it off the cabinet without damaging the cabinet or the plumbing underneath takes two people and some experience. Trevor Nash has learned the trade over nearly three decades, and a big part of that is knowing when a job looks simple and isn’t. This is one of those jobs.

What you can safely do yourself is identify the problem and gather information for us: note where the crack starts and ends, check under the sink for any visible gap between the stone and the cabinet deck, and take photos in natural light. That helps us give you a real estimate over the phone. But the removal, fabrication, and install are where DIY jobs go sideways in Miami real estate. A badly set Silestone top doesn’t just look off. It puts uneven weight on a vanity, stresses the plumbing connections, and can crack again within a year. We’ve replaced DIY tops that failed in months, and the second fix always costs more than the first install would have.

If your Silestone surface is cracked, stained, or separating, call us at (850) 988-7559 and we’ll talk through what you’re seeing. Give you a number first, then pick up the tools.
