GAF Fence Installation: The Miami Owner’s Guide
We install GAF-compatible fence systems throughout Miami, with most complete installations running $4,130 to $10,620 depending on linear footage, post depth, and whether we’re pulling an old fence or starting fresh. Most GAF fence jobs in Miami take two to three working days once materials are on site. Homeowners usually call us after a storm has pushed a section over, or after they’ve noticed rot at the post base that’s been quietly getting worse through two hurricane seasons.
GAF is better known for roofing products than fencing, so when a Miami homeowner has a GAF fence component that’s failed, what they’re usually dealing with is a GAF-manufactured vinyl or composite privacy panel, or a GAF rail-and-picket system that was paired with the home’s exterior package. We’re an independent service provider, not affiliated with GAF, but we work with their product lines regularly enough to know what fits and what doesn’t.
Which GAF Models This Applies To

GAF’s fence-related products in this region generally fall into two camps: the composite privacy panels bundled with GAF’s exterior cladding lines, and the vinyl rail systems specified on some of their planned-community builds. The compatibility gotcha we see most often in Miami: GAF privacy panels are manufactured in 6-foot and 8-foot nominal widths, but the 8-foot panel only mates with the GAF heavy-post channel, not the standard post. If you mix them, the panel rattles in the channel and the first decent wind gust takes it out.
To identify what you have, look for the embossed GAF logo on the panel’s bottom rail or on the post cap underside. You’ll also see a four-digit series code, usually starting with 3 or 4. Write that number down before you call anyone, including us. It tells us the panel profile, rail depth, and whether you need the clip-in or slide-in installation system. For OEM versus aftermarket: GAF’s own replacement parts match exactly and hold color, especially in Miami’s UV, which is brutal on vinyl. Quality aftermarket equivalents from suppliers like Bufftech or ActiveYards fit the same channels and can save 15 to 20 percent, but the color match can drift subtly on older, sun-faded panels. If the fence is visible from the street and you care about a seamless look, OEM is the safer call.

Signs Your GAF Fence Installation Is Failing
- Leaning posts after heavy rain. Miami’s wet season saturates the soil, and posts that were set in concrete less than 24 inches deep start to drift. You’ll see the fence line develop a wave. This almost never corrects itself.
- Panels pulling free of the top rail. This is usually a clip failure, not a panel failure. The plastic clips fatigue in the heat-sun cycle and the panel’s top edge slides down, then catches the wind. It sounds like a loose shutter slapping on windy days.
- Chalky, faded panels with surface cracking. UV degradation in Miami is relentless on vinyl and composite. Once you can scratch a white line into the finish with a fingernail, the material has lost its plasticizer and is getting brittle. Panels will start cracking at the picket necks.
- Gates that drag or won’t latch. The post holding the gate hinge has moved, or the hinge mount has wallowed out. Forcing the gate shut just pulls the post further out of plumb.
- A section of fence that’s gone missing after a storm. In Miami, this is common enough that we don’t judge. What matters is whether the posts snapped, pulled out, or the panels just blew out of the rails. Each failure tells a different story about what needs rebuilding.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

In Miami, a full GAF-compatible fence installation typically runs $4,130 to $10,620. That includes demolition and haul-away of the old fence, new posts set in concrete, fresh rails and panels, all hardware, and the labor to set, level, and align everything. On a straight-line replacement with good soil and clear access, you’re at the lower end. Corner lots, fences that run along a canal or retention pond, old fence removal with concrete footings to break out, or gates that need to be reshaped to fit an uneven grade push the number toward the top.
Every bid from us is written before we start, so the number you approve is the number on your invoice. No change orders because we hit clay or found an old concrete footing. If the work fails within the first year, our 365-Day Done Right Promise puts the fix in writing and it costs you nothing.
DIY or Call Us?
There’s no serious safety risk in fencing the way there is with, say, a garage door spring, so we’re not going to wave you off the whole job. What you can safely do: verify the series code stamped on your panels and rails, measure the exact run and count your posts, and decide if the gates need to stay where they are. What goes wrong for Miami homeowners who DIY: post depth. A 6-foot privacy fence on a corner lot that catches wind needs posts 30 to 36 inches deep in poured concrete, and if you pour concrete in the rain or into a hole full of water, you get a post that loosens by next hurricane season. We’ve been called out to redo at least a half-dozen DIY fence installations in the last two years alone; Trevor Nash will tell you it’s easier to get it right the first time than to watch a month of weekend work lean over at an angle.

FAQs

In Miami’s climate, a properly installed GAF-compatible vinyl or composite fence runs 15 to 20 years before panel fatigue and UV chalking become visible. The posts can outlast the panels. Fences with inadequate drainage or shallow posts will lean much earlier, usually within three to five years. Call (850) 988-7559 and we’ll give you a written assessment.
Yes, often. If the posts are still plumb and only a few clips, panels, or a top rail have failed, we can match the replacement parts and repair just that section. The more sun-faded the existing material, the more a brash patch job will stand out. We’ll give you the repair number and a replacement number side by side so you can decide with real figures.
Most straight-line fence installations in Miami take two to three working days once materials are in hand. Demolition and haul-away typically happen on day one, posts get set and allowed to cure, and panels go up on the following days. Schedules can shift if a storm front moves in, because you don’t pour concrete into standing water and expect it to hold.
Our trucks carry the common GAF channel clips, post caps, and rail brackets we use on a typical fence swap, plus we keep a range of matching panels at our Miami supplier. We’re an independent service provider, not affiliated with GAF, so we’re not limited to a single parts source. If a particular item is not on hand, we can usually have it in a day or two. Call (850) 988-7559 for an exact quote, and the estimate is free.
