CertainTeed Driveway & Pavers: The Miami Owner’s Guide

We install and repair CertainTeed-compatible driveway pavers throughout Miami, with full paver driveway installations typically running $8,260 – $21,240 depending on square footage, base condition, and access. Most homeowners call us after noticing a single settling paver, a spreading low spot, or pooling water that wasn’t there last year. In Miami’s heat and rainfall cycles, the sand base under pavers shifts faster than most people expect, and by the time one paver rocks underfoot, the base beneath it has usually started washing out.

We’re an independent Miami contractor, not a CertainTeed dealer or affiliate. That matters because we can match your existing pavers honestly, even when the original installer is gone and the product line has changed names twice since your driveway went in.

Which CertainTeed Models This Applies To

Most CertainTeed driveway pavers in Miami fall into two product families: the Buffalo series and the older City Line pavers, with some properties using CertainTeed’s Holland or Cobble profiles. Buffalo pavers run about 60mm thick for driveway use and come in modular lengths of roughly 6″, 9″, and 12″. City Line pavers are thinner, typically 60mm as well, but with a more uniform rectangular profile. Here’s the compatibility gotcha most Miami homeowners hit: CertainTeed has discontinued several colors and shade lots over the years, so an exact color match from current production isn’t always possible, especially on driveways installed before 2015. We deal with this regularly in neighborhoods like Coconut Grove and Coral Gables, where pavers have been sun-bleached and salt-air weathered for a decade or more.

If you don’t have the original paperwork, flip over a loose paver and look for a stamped code on the underside. That code tells us the series and production run. When we can’t pin down the code, we bring physical samples from matching color families and hold them against your existing driveway in daylight. For OEM versus aftermarket: CertainTeed’s current lineup is solid, but for certain discontinued colors, a quality aftermarket equivalent from manufacturers like Belgard or Unilock (two lines we also work with) often matches better than trying to force a CertainTeed shade that isn’t quite right. We’ll tell you which is which and why.

Signs Your CertainTeed Driveway & Pavers Are Failing

  • A single paver rocks when you step on it. The sand base beneath that paver has eroded. In Miami, this usually traces back to a drainage issue: a downspout discharging onto the driveway or a low edge where storm water pools instead of running off.
  • Low spots that hold water after a rain. The base material under the pavers is settling unevenly. Miami’s sandy soil and heavy summer downpours accelerate this. The puddle isn’t the problem; the base compaction under it is.
  • Spreading gaps between pavers. The edge restraint has failed somewhere, often along a curb or driveway border. Once the outer pavers lose lateral support, the whole field can drift apart slowly.
  • Darker, stained areas that stay damp. Water is moving underneath the surface, not across it. Over time, that trapped moisture attracts mildew and softens the sand base further, which is why the stain and the settling usually appear together.
  • Ants or small soil mounds in the joints. Ants love Miami paver joints. They tunnel through the joint sand, which removes the interlock between pavers and lets individual stones start shifting independently of their neighbors.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A dining nook with a built-in banquette

For Miami homeowners, full paver driveway replacement runs $8,260 – $21,240 installed, with most jobs landing between $11,000 and $16,000. What drives the spread: total square footage, how much base material needs to be removed and recompacted, paver style (Buffalo, City Line, or a matching aftermarket profile), and whether your driveway has curves, borders, or a compound slope. We use paver installation pricing guidance for Miami that includes removing the old surface, re-grading and compacting the base, installing edge restraint, laying and cutting pavers, and sweeping in polymeric sand.

Every quote we give is a written number before any work starts, not a range we tighten later. The price you see on day one is the price on the invoice, unless you change the scope. And every paver driveway job carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise in writing: if a paver settles, shifts, or washes out inside the first year, we come back and make it right at no charge.

DIY or Call Us?

Honestly, check the drainage first. Walk your driveway during a heavy rain and watch where water collects. If a downspout dumps water onto the pavers, fixing that gutter issue might stop the settling before it spreads. That’s something any homeowner can spot and solve with a downspout extension from a hardware store.

What we wouldn’t DIY: pulling up more than one or two pavers to “reset” them. The base underneath is almost always in worse shape than the surface suggests, and resetting pavers on a compromised base means they’ll settle again within months. We’ve redone several Miami driveways where a homeowner or handyman reset pavers twice before realizing the base was never compacted properly the first time. If you’re seeing multiple loose pavers or a spreading low spot, call us at (850) 988-7559 and let us look at the base, not just the surface. Give you a number first, then pick up the tools.
