Ameristar Kitchen Remodeling: The Miami Owner’s Guide
If you have an Ameristar kitchen and a cabinet, hinge, drawer glide, or countertop seam that’s starting to fail, we can source the matching component and install it for a typical Miami price of $2,360 to $7,670 for countertop work and $945 to $2,950 for backsplash repair, with most part replacements finished in a single visit. You’ll usually notice the problem first as a drawer that catches, a hinge that creaks and drifts, or a laminate edge that’s lifting away from the substrate (the structural layer underneath). These are the early warning signs before a cabinet door sags past the point of adjustment or a countertop joint opens up enough to trap water.
We’re Penhallow Remodeling Miami, an independent contractor, not affiliated with Ameristar. But we work on Ameristar kitchens throughout Miami every month, and Trevor Nash and our team keep the common wear parts on hand so you’re not waiting on a backorder.
Which Ameristar Models This Applies To

Ameristar kitchen cabinetry and countertops came through a few different series over the years, and the hardware is not universal across all of them. The most common lines we see in Miami homes are the builder-grade Ameristar Select series and the mid-tier Ameristar Plus. They use different hinge spacing: Select cabinets typically run a 35mm cup hinge with a 1/2-inch overlay, while Plus cabinets often step up to a 3/4-inch overlay with a soft-close mechanism that Select never offered. If you swap a Select hinge onto a Plus door, the door won’t sit flush no matter how much you adjust it.
The fastest way to identify what you need is to pull one hinge off and look for the stamped number on the cup, or measure the cup diameter. 35mm is standard, but some older Ameristar cabinets from the mid-2000s use a 26mm cup that nobody stocks locally. For countertops, the real gotcha is thickness: Ameristar laminate tops are often 1/2-inch stock, not the 3/4-inch you’ll find at a home center, which means an off-the-shelf replacement edge doesn’t match. We can order the correct thickness or fabricate a solid-surface replacement that hides the difference. In most cases, the OEM Ameristar part is worth the few extra dollars because aftermarket generics sometimes have slightly different hole patterns. If the OEM part is discontinued, we’ll tell you that plainly and show you the closest equivalent.

Signs Your Ameristar Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing
- A cabinet door drifts open or won’t stay shut. The hinge spring has fatigued, or the mounting screws have stripped out of the particleboard. Miami’s humidity accelerates both because the board swells and shrinks with every season, loosening thread grip over time.
- A drawer catches halfway, then needs a yank. The nylon roller on the glide has flattened or cracked. Once one roller goes, the drawer rides metal-on-metal and starts wearing the track itself, which turns a $40 glide replacement into a drawer box rebuild.
- A laminate countertop edge is lifting or peeling near the sink. Water has been getting under the edge banding and breaking down the adhesive. This is very common in Miami kitchens where the sink sprayer splashes the front lip daily.
- A soft-close drawer slams shut instead. The damper cylinder inside the glide has blown its seal. You can’t rebuild that cylinder; the glide is done. Good news is we stock the common Ameristar glide lengths in the truck.
- A countertop seam has opened up and feels rough. The original installer’s adhesive has failed, or the substrate underneath has swelled from moisture. This needs attention before water gets into the cabinet box below and rots the base.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

For Ameristar kitchen work in Miami, you’re looking at $2,360 to $7,670 for a full countertop replacement, $945 to $2,950 for a backsplash repair, and $4,720 to $15,340 if you need cabinet boxes or multiple doors replaced, not just hardware. The range is driven by three things: the specific Ameristar series you have, whether we’re replacing a part or a whole component, and the material. A laminate repair lands on the low end. A quartz or solid-surface replacement lands higher, but it also ends the repair cycle for good.
Every quote is written before we start. You’ll get the part cost, the labor, and the total, and that total is the number on the invoice. We don’t change the price at the door. Every repair carries a 365-Day Done Right Promise. If the replacement fails inside a year, we come back and fix it at no charge, including a second visit, no service call fee.
Here’s what typical Ameristar kitchen part replacements run in Miami:
- Cabinet hinge replacement (per door): $60 – $120 installed
- Drawer glide replacement (per drawer): $80 – $160 installed
- Laminate edge repair (per linear foot): $25 – $55
- Cabinet door replacement (stock Ameristar match): $180 – $420 installed
- Countertop seam repair: $200 – $500
- Full countertop replacement: $2,360 – $7,670
DIY or Call Us?
There are a few things you can safely check on your own. A door that sags can often be fixed with a hinge adjustment screw. If a drawer is catching, pull it out, clear the track, and check for a broken roller you can see. Those are diagnosis steps, not repairs. The repair itself often goes sideways when the screw holes in the cabinet box are stripped, or when the hinge cup was drilled for a pattern that no longer matches what’s available. At that point, you need the right jig and the right filler technique, or you’ll create holes you can’t undo.
This work isn’t dangerous like high-tension springs or electrical, but it is easy to make worse. If you attempt a repair and drill a second set of holes, we can still fix it, but it’s cheaper to call first. Give you a number first, then pick up the tools. Call (850) 988-7559 and we’ll get you a written estimate.
FAQs

Ameristar cabinets in Miami typically last 15 to 25 years depending on how well they were sealed, but the hardware usually fails first, between years 8 and 15. The humid summers and salt air in Miami shorten both timelines, which is why we see more hinge and glide failures than structural cabinet failures. Call (850) 988-7559 and we’ll tell you if the box is worth saving or if replacement makes more sense.
Sometimes, but not always. Hinges and glides are replaceable items; once a soft-close damper fails, there’s no rebuild. Laminate edges and seams can often be repaired if the substrate is still dry. If the particleboard underneath has swelled, a patch won’t hold and you’re looking at a component replacement. We’ll tell you which camp you’re in before you spend anything.
Most hinge, glide, and edge repairs are done in one visit that runs two to four hours. A full countertop replacement is usually a two-day job: one day to template and fabricate, one day to install. We give you a defined arrival window and we stick to it.
We stock common Ameristar hinges, glides, and edge banding in the truck, along with matching hardware from the trade brands we work with, including KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone. If your specific part is a discontinued model, we’ll source the closest match and show you the difference before we install. Call (850) 988-7559 with your cabinet or countertop details and we’ll confirm what’s on the truck.
