Jerith Bathroom Remodeling: The Miami Owner’s Guide

Jerith bathroom remodeling in Miami typically runs $10,620 – $33,040 for a full bathroom, with smaller refresh work landing between $5,900 and $14,160. We stock and install Jerith-compatible components daily, and most parts failures can be diagnosed and repaired within a single visit. The most common way owners discover a Jerith part has failed is water staining on the drywall below the shower base, a hinge that’s started to sag, or a track that binds halfway across its travel.

Jerith manufactures residential door and shower enclosure systems, and while the brand is best known for its ornamental aluminum fencing, its bathroom division makes framed and semi-frameless shower doors, pivot hinges, roller assemblies, and threshold kits used across South Florida condo and single-family builds. We see a steady stream of Jerith enclosures in Miami bungalows from the 1990s and early 2000s, along with newer installs in Kendall, Pinecrest, and Coconut Grove high-rises. Penhallow Remodeling Miami is an independent remodeling contractor, not affiliated with Jerith, but we know their parts catalogs well enough to match failing hardware on the first visit.

Which Jerith Models This Applies To

Most Jerith bathroom enclosures fall into two families: the framed sliding series with aluminum rails and the semi-frameless pivot series with heavy glass and top-mounted hinges. The fast way to identify your model is to look at the bottom rail. Framed Jerith sliders have a visible roller assembly clipped into the bottom track, and the roller wheel diameter is either 7/16″ for older units or 5/8″ for anything made after roughly 2005. That sizing difference is the single biggest compatibility gotcha we run into: ordering a 7/16″ replacement wheel for a newer track leaves the door dragging and catches on the center guide, and no amount of track silicone fixes it.

Semi-frameless Jerith enclosures use a clamp-style hinge system with a 3/8″ or 1/4″ glass thickness stamped on a small etching near the hinge plate. If the etching has worn off, measure the glass with a caliper at the edge; the hinge body is machined for that exact thickness and a shimmed hinge is a failure waiting to happen. For OEM versus aftermarket: Jerith’s own replacement hardware is well made but priced at the top of the bracket. We carry a quality aftermarket line that matches the roller and hinge geometry exactly, and we’ll tell you straight whether OEM is worth the difference for your specific part. For hinges and latches, OEM is usually the call. For rollers and sweeps, aftermarket does the job at half the price.

Signs Your Jerith Bathroom Remodeling Is Failing

  • Water collecting at the outside corner of the shower curb. This is almost always a failed sweep gasket or a threshold that’s pulled away from the tile due to substrate settling. Miami’s humidity keeps the area damp long after the shower runs, which accelerates silicone breakdown.
  • The door rolls hard, binds at the halfway point, or sounds gritty. Roller bearings corrode in salt-humidity air much faster here than in drier climates. The wheels flatten into ovals, and the door starts to fight you.
  • A hinge that’s sagging or a door edge that scrapes the threshold. The top pivot pin wears on semi-frameless units, and because Miami homes settle constantly, a once-true opening goes out of square by an eighth of an inch within a few years.
  • Black mold staining the silicone seams or the underside of the track. The silicone has failed as a water barrier, not as a surface stain. Wiping it clean doesn’t address the water that’s now living behind the track.
  • A latch that won’t catch or a strike plate that has walked loose. The strike plate screws have stripped out of the aluminum jamb, which is common in homes with drywall-over-block construction where the enclosure was installed without proper anchors.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A low-threshold walk-in shower with a bench and grab bar

A full Jerith bathroom remodel in Miami, meaning a new enclosure plus tile work, waterproofing, and fixture replacement, runs $10,620 – $33,040 depending on the size of the room and what’s hiding behind the old walls. A smaller refresh, where we’re keeping the existing tile and just replacing the enclosure and hardware, typically lands between $5,900 and $14,160. Parts-only replacement, like a new roller set, hinge, or track with installation, generally runs $945 – $3,540 including the service call and labor.

What drives the range: square footage, whether we’re pulling the old tile down to the studs, whether the substrate needs replacement (cement board over a rotted floor costs more than a simple swap), and the tier of fixture you choose. We install Kohler and Moen fixtures alongside our enclosure work. Every Penhallow remodeling job in Miami gets a written price before any demo starts, that number is the number on the invoice, and the work carries the 365-Day Done Right Promise. If it fails inside a year, we come back and fix it at no charge, in writing.

DIY or Call Us?

Replacing a Jerith roller, sweep, or latch is a job a careful homeowner can do in an afternoon with a Phillips driver and a pair of pliers, provided the roller diameter matches and the track isn’t bent. We’re happy to sell you the part and talk you through it over the phone. Where DIY goes sideways is with hinges, glass panels, or any repair that involves removing the door from its frame, because a 60-pound glass panel carries enough energy at the wrong angle to do real damage to the glass, the tile, and you.

If the track is out of square, or the threshold has pulled up, or you’re seeing water damage behind the enclosure, that’s a demolition-and-reseal job, not a hardware swap. Trevor Nash has seen enough Miami showers with rot behind the tile to say plainly: once water has been getting behind a track for a year, the fix is structural, not cosmetic. Call (850) 988-7559 and we’ll come look at it. The estimate is free, the diagnosis is straight, and we’ll tell you if it’s a $1,200 repair or a $14,000 remodel without spinning either.
