ActiveYards Driveway & Pavers: The Miami Owner’s Guide
We stock, match, and install ActiveYards-compatible driveway and paver components throughout Miami, with complete paver driveway installations typically running $8,260 – $21,240 depending on square footage, base prep, and paver style. Most stock pavers and edge restraints are available for same-week scheduling, and we carry the most common ActiveYards sizes on our trucks. You usually discover a problem the same way every Miami homeowner does: a paver shifts underfoot after a heavy rain, an edge restraint pops loose along the driveway border, or a low spot starts holding water where it never did before.
Which ActiveYards Models This Applies To

ActiveYards runs its paver and driveway products through a handful of series lines, and the naming matters more than most owners realize. The biggest compatibility gotcha we see in Miami is color-lot matching: ActiveYards manufactures in batches, and a paver bought six months after the original install will often show a slightly different tone even when the SKU is identical. If your driveway was installed before 2021, you will almost always get a closer visual match by replacing a full section rather than spot-swapping individual pavers.
Here is how to identify what you have. Flip over a loose paver and look for a stamped mold code on the underside. That code tells us the shape family (Holland, Cobble, Plank) and the manufacturing plant. If the paver is too tight to lift, measure the exposed face: ActiveYards modular pavers are sized so three width units equal one length unit, which is why a 4″ x 8″ and a 6″ x 9″ will not mix cleanly even though they look close at a glance.
On the OEM versus aftermarket question: ActiveYards pavers are concrete units, so a quality aftermarket equivalent from Belgard or Unilock will often hold up identically in this climate. What matters more in Miami is the base. We will not lay any paver, OEM or aftermarket, on top of a failing base, because that is how you get the same failure again in eighteen months. When the base is sound, aftermarket pavers will usually save you 15 – 20% over ActiveYards-branded units with no functional difference. When the base is shot, no paver on earth will fix it.

Signs Your ActiveYards Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
- Paver rocking or tilting underfoot. This is almost always a bedding sand problem: Miami’s heavy summer rains wash fines out of the sand layer, and the paver loses its seat. One or two rockers is cosmetic; a whole field of them means the base is moving.
- Edge restraint popping loose along the border. The plastic or aluminum edge that holds the outside row in place has either broken at a spike point or heaved out of the ground. Once the edge lets go, the whole field starts spreading outward, and the gaps grow slowly.
- Low spots that pond water after rain. South Florida’s afternoon downpours expose base settlement fast. If water sits for more than an hour after the rain stops, you have a low spot, and low spots in Miami become mosquito breeding and paver staining problems.
- Weeds or grass growing through joints every few weeks. The polymeric sand in the joints has failed or was never installed properly. In Miami’s humidity, joint sand breaks down faster than it does up north, so this is one of the first things we check.
- Visible cracking across multiple pavers in a line. A crack that runs through several pavers in a row tells you the base underneath is moving, not the pavers themselves failing. This is the one sign you should not ignore, because it means whatever caused the movement is still at work.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

A full paver driveway installation in Miami runs $8,260 – $21,240. The spread comes down to three things: how many square feet you are covering, what condition the existing base is in, and which paver style you choose. A straight replacement of an existing paver field with a sound base sits at the low end. A full teardown with new base rock, re-grading for drainage, and a premium paver line sits at the high end.
Every quote includes the pavers themselves, bedding sand, polymeric joint sand, edge restraints, base repair or replacement, and haul-off of the old material. You get a written price before we touch anything, and that price includes our labor. If we find the base is worse than expected after we open it up, we stop, show you what we found, and put the next number in writing before continuing. The work is covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the pavers shift, sink, or fail inside a year, we come back and fix it at no charge. In writing, on every job.
DIY or Call Us?
Pavers are one of the safer home exterior projects to investigate with your own two hands. You can identify problem areas by walking the field barefoot and feeling for movement, and you can visually trace which edge restraints have popped. What you should not do is start pulling pavers and re-setting them without fixing the base underneath. That is the most common DIY mistake we walk into in Miami: a homeowner re-levels ten pavers with bagged sand from the big-box store, and six weeks later the same ten pavers are rocking again because the real problem was water eroding the base from the edge inward.
If you have a few loose pavers and the base is dry, stable, and intact underneath them, a careful reset can work. If you have ponding, spreading edges, or cracking across multiple units, call us at (850) 988-7559 before you spend a weekend on a repair that will not hold. Give you a number first, then pick up the tools.
FAQs

With a properly prepared base and maintained joint sand, ActiveYards concrete pavers will last 25 – 30 years in Miami’s climate. The pavers themselves rarely fail; what fails first is the base or the joints, which is why we spend as much time on what goes underneath the paver as on the paver itself.
Yes, when the failure is localized. A section of sinking pavers with a compacted base that is otherwise sound can often be lifted, re-based, and re-set for a fraction of a full replacement. If the base failure is widespread, repair becomes a patch job that will crack again. Call (850) 988-7559 and we will tell you which situation you have, straight.
A typical single-car-width driveway replacement in Miami takes three to five working days from teardown to final joint sand, with the job site left clean at the end of each day as part of The Kingswell Way. Weather can add a day or two during summer storm season.
We stock the most common ActiveYards shapes and colors on our trucks, and we can source less common lines from local Miami distributors inside a week. We also work with Belgard and Unilock pavers, along with other recognized brands like KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone for the broader remodeling work we do, so the material chain behind your project is solid.
