Boxabl Kitchen Remodeling: The Miami Owner’s Guide
We remodel Boxabl kitchens in Miami, and it typically runs $16,520 to $53,100 depending on cabinet line, countertop material, and whether you’re replacing just the worn components or reconfiguring the whole space. Most owners reach out after the factory laminate starts peeling at the edges or the stock cabinet hardware loses its grip after a couple of humid Miami summers. The good news is that a Boxabl kitchen, because of its modular frame, is actually one of the friendlier layouts to remodel. The bad news is that the compact footprint means every inch has to earn its place, and slapping in stock big-box cabinets rarely looks right or holds up.
Which Boxabl Models This Applies To

We’ve worked inside the Boxabl Casita, which is the model most owners reach out about, but the kitchen core is similar across their accessory dwelling units and larger configurations. The original kitchen is built around a compact galley layout with a 48-inch refrigerator cutout, a four-burner electric cooktop, and a single-basin stainless sink. The cabinet boxes are a lightweight composite, not solid plywood, which matters when you think about hanging heavier doors or adding pull-out hardware. If you’re trying to identify what you have, look inside the sink base cabinet for a small white label with the build date and serial prefix. That label tells us more than the model name does.
As for OEM versus aftermarket: Boxabl doesn’t sell direct-to-consumer kitchen replacement parts the way KraftMaid or Wellborn do. So the real choice is between trying to match the original flat-pack style or upgrading to a cabinet line that fits the same footprint but uses thicker panels and better fasteners. We often end up at aftermarket because the OEM materials simply aren’t rated for long-term Florida humidity. And we’re an independent remodeling contractor, not a Boxabl dealer or affiliate, so we’re honest about when it’s worth staying original and when an upgrade pays for itself.

Signs Your Boxabl Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing
- Laminate peeling at the sink or cooktop edges. The factory edging on the original cabinets starts lifting once moisture gets underneath it. In Miami, with our wet season, that process moves faster than it does in desert climates. Once the substrate swells, you can’t glue it back flat.
- Soft cabinet boxes near the floor or plumbing stub-outs. A small drip from the sink trap or the dishwasher line, unnoticed for a few weeks, turns the composite cabinet floor into mush. You might notice the cabinet base bowing or a musty smell when you open the doors.
- Drawers that drag, stick, or drop off their tracks. The original drawer slides are light-duty. After repeated loading, the rear clips fail and the drawer tilts forward. This is usually fixable with a better slide, but once the slide mounting points strip out, you’re into replacing the cabinet box.
- Countertop seams that won’t stay clean or sealed. The factory countertop is often a two-piece laminate with a seam near the sink. Silicone gives out, water creeps in, and you get a dark line of mildew that keeps coming back no matter how many times you scrub it.
- Cabinet doors that no longer close square, especially on upper units. The hinges on the original uppers are mounted through thin material. After a few years of daily use, the mounting screws loosen and the door sags. Retightening helps once or twice. After that, the screw holes are wallowed out.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

A Boxabl kitchen remodel in Miami lands between $16,520 and $53,100 all-in. The spread comes down to three things: cabinet line, countertop choice, and whether we’re modifying plumbing or electrical rough-ins. A straightforward refresh with a mid-grade cabinet line and a standard quartz or solid surface top runs on the lower end. If you want Cambria or Silestone on the counters and KraftMaid or Wellborn boxes with soft-close hardware and roll-out trays, you’re moving toward the middle and upper range. Changing the sink location or adding a peninsula pushes the number up because the plumbing and the floor cutouts change.
Every Boxabl kitchen project gets a written price before we order a single cabinet. That number includes labor, materials, haul-away of the old fixture, and a written workmanship guarantee. If something fails inside that window, we come back and fix it at no charge. The 365-Day Done Right Promise is written on every contract we hand out. No verbal ballpark, no surprise change order after we’ve opened the wall. The number on day one is the number on the invoice.
DIY or Call Us?
Kitchen cabinets and countertops don’t carry the same danger as a gas line or a high-tension garage spring, so it’s safe for a homeowner to check a few things. You can measure your existing cutouts, confirm where your plumbing stubs come through the floor, and make a list of what’s bothering you. That list saves time when we walk the job. But once you start talking about removing the old cabinets or moving plumbing, DIY gets expensive fast. These walls and floors are modular, and cutting into the wrong place can compromise a structural connection. The adhesive holding the original countertop in place also puts up a fight. We’ve had homeowners call us mid-demo because they realized the old top wasn’t coming off without damaging the wall panels.

FAQs

With our humidity and daily use, expect the factory kitchen to start showing real wear between five and eight years. Peeling edges, tired drawer slides, and a countertop that won’t stay clean are the usual indicators. A quality remodel with solid cabinetry and a quartz top should hold up twenty years or more with normal care.
Sometimes. If the boxes are still dry and structurally sound, we can install new drawer slides, replace hinges, and add sturdier pull-out hardware. But if the cabinet boxes have already absorbed moisture or the mounting points are stripped, patching rarely holds. Call (850) 988-7559 and describe what you’re seeing; we’ll tell you honestly whether repair is worth the cost.
Most Boxabl kitchen remodels run two to three weeks from the day the old cabinets come out to the day we button up the punch list. If we’re only replacing countertops and not touching the cabinets, that often shrinks to two to four working days. We give you a defined arrival window before work starts, and we stick to it.
We order each kitchen to the specific measurements of your Boxabl, rather than pulling generic stock off a shelf. What we do keep on hand are the components that routinely fail: upgraded drawer slides, hinges, and plumbing fittings suited to the original layout. We also work with KraftMaid, Wellborn, Cambria, and Silestone so you have real material choices instead of whatever a parts catalog happens to list.
