American Standard Kitchen Remodeling: The Miami Owner’s Guide

If you own an American Standard kitchen and something’s failed, a full kitchen remodeling project in Miami typically runs $16,520 – $53,100 depending on cabinet line, countertop material, and whether we’re moving plumbing or electrical. That’s the installed range we quote, in writing, before any tool leaves the truck. Most Miami homeowners discover a problem the way you probably just did: a drawer that sticks every August, a sink rim that’s started to separate from the counter, or a faucet base that weeps onto the cabinet deck every time you run the sprayer. Miami’s humidity and hard water don’t cause these failures overnight. They cause them slowly, over five to fifteen years, until one morning you open a cabinet and the smell tells you something’s been quietly wrong for months.

We’re Penhallow Remodeling Miami, and we’re an independent remodeling contractor. We are not affiliated with American Standard. But we work with American Standard kitchens across Miami constantly, and we know exactly how their faucets, sinks, and cabinet hardware hold up to this climate, and what it costs to put things right.

Which American Standard Models This Applies To

American Standard’s kitchen lineup splits into a few distinct families. The Colony and Town Square series are the older workhorses, built with side-spray faucets and cartridges that are generous with service parts. The Pekoe and Spindle lines are newer, lower-profile, and use a different cartridge design that doesn’t interchange with the older bodies. The easiest way to identify your faucet is to look for the model number stamped on the escutcheon plate under the handle, or on the tag that hangs inside the cabinet below the sink. If that tag’s gone, measure the spread between the two handle centers. Three-hole 8-inch centers are the old standard. Single-hole mount with a pull-down head is the newer configuration. We carry both on the truck, plus the ceramic disc cartridges for both generations, which covers most Miami service calls the same day.

On the OEM versus aftermarket question: for high-touch parts like faucet cartridges and spray heads, we use genuine American Standard replacement parts. The ceramic disc dimensions are machined to tighter tolerances than generics, and in Miami’s hard water, chattering and drip-back show up faster on looser aftermarket discs. For cabinet hinges and drawer glides on an older American Standard kitchen, a quality aftermarket equivalent from a name like Blum or Salice often outperforms what’s worn out, because the original hardware may have been a builder-grade spec. We’ll tell you which is which before we order anything.

Signs Your American Standard Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing

  • Faucet drips from the spout after you shut it off. The ceramic disc cartridge has worn or scored, usually from mineral buildup in Miami’s hard water. It rarely means you need a new faucet. A cartridge swap usually resolves it.
  • The pull-down spray head won’t retract, or retracts slowly. The weight under the sink has slipped, or the hose has started to bind inside the spray assembly. If it’s sagging every time you use it, the hose is wearing against the cabinet below.
  • Water pooling around the base of the faucet, but only when you run the spray. That’s the side-spray diverter, not the cartridge. It’s a separate internal part, and one of the most common misdiagnoses we see.
  • Drawer fronts out of alignment, or drawers that rub after years of use. Miami’s humidity swells wood and MDF. If the drawer box is off-square from that swelling, new glides won’t fix it. The box needs to be re-squared or replaced before new hardware goes on.
  • Sink rim separated from the counter, with dark staining along the caulk line. The undermount adhesive has failed and water’s been wicking into the substrate. Left alone, the particleboard under the countertop turns to sponge. This is the one that turns a $300 fix into a $3,000 countertop replacement.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A walk-in pantry with wood shelving

For a single-part repair, here’s what Miami homeowners can expect in 2026. A faucet cartridge replacement runs $295 – $425 installed, including the genuine American Standard part and labor. A side-spray diverter replacement runs $235 – $395. Swapping an entire faucet to a new American Standard model runs $825 – $1,650, depending on whether we’re pulling the sink or working from below the deck. A full kitchen remodel runs $16,520 – $53,100, and that spread is driven by cabinet line (KraftMaid and Wellborn are our two mainstays), countertop material (Cambria, Silestone, or Caesarstone), and how much plumbing and electrical movement the new layout requires. Miami slab-on-grade construction means moving a sink line often means cutting concrete, which is real cost. That’s not a surprise we spring on you later. It’s in the written number up front.

Every repair and every remodel includes the same two things: a written guarantee and the 365-Day Done Right Promise. If a part we install fails inside the year, we come back and make it right at no charge. And if a repair fails a week later, there’s no second service fee and no re-inspection fee. The second visit is free. That’s the standard we work to under The Kingswell Way: say the price before the work. Show up in the window we gave. Leave the place cleaner than we found it.

DIY or Call Us?

You can safely do two things yourself: check the model number plate under the sink, and take a photo of the spray hose retraction from under the cabinet. That tells us whether we’re ordering a cartridge or a hose before we even arrive. What you shouldn’t do is pull the faucet apart. Cartridge removal on an American Standard kitchen faucet takes a specific tool for the retaining ring, and if the ring’s corroded from hard water, a homeowner’s adjustable wrench can crack the faucet body. At that point you’re replacing a $400 faucet instead of a $40 cartridge. We’re a phone call away at (850) 988-7559, and we’ll bring the right parts on the first trip, not the third.

As Trevor Nash will tell you: “Give you a number first, then pick up the tools.” That’s how this works.
