Barrette Driveway & Pavers: The Miami Owner's Guide
Barrette driveway and paver parts run $120 – $680 for the component itself in Miami, and full installation of a paver driveway typically lands between $8,260 and $21,240 depending on square footage, base condition, and paver style. We stock Barrette-compatible edging, base panels, joint sand, and replacement pavers in Miami, and we can usually source the exact match within two business days. Most Miami homeowners discover a failed part the hard way: a paver shifts under the car, an edge restraint snaps loose and lets the border wander into the lawn, or a low spot starts holding water after a hard summer storm.
Trevor Nash and the Penhallow Remodeling Miami crew have sorted through plenty of these over the years. We write the number down before we pick up the tools, and the written guarantee covers the repair for a full year. If the same part fails again inside that window, we come back and make it right at no charge.
Which Barrette Models This Applies To

Barrette's outdoor line breaks into three families that show up most often in Miami driveways and patios: the Barrette Pavestone concrete pavers, the Barrette stone-look paver panels, and the interlocking paver grids sold as base stabilizers. Each family uses its own edge restraint profile and joint width, which is where homeowners get crosswise. A Pavestone border clip will not seat into a stone-look panel edge, and forcing it cracks the lip and then the whole border starts drifting within a season. The model number is printed on the underside of most Barrette pavers, a raised 4 – 7 digit code you can read when you flip one over. If the stamp has worn flat under foot traffic, we measure the paver face and the joint gap instead: the stone-look line runs 16×16 and 16×24 inches with a 3/8-inch joint, while the Pavestone squares sit at 12×12 with a narrower 1/4-inch sand joint.
On OEM versus aftermarket: Barrette's own edge restraints are worth the extra money here. The aftermarket aluminum and plastic restraints sold at big-box stores in Miami are a full gauge thinner, and our humid, hot summers turn the cheaper plastic brittle inside two years. We will not install one we know is going to curl up in the sun. If the original Barrette part is discontinued, we will tell you that in the same breath we quote the compatible replacement, so there are no surprises after we open the ground.

Signs Your Barrette Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
- Edge restraint pulling away from the pavers. This is the most common failure we see in Miami, and it usually means the restraint spike has rusted or the substrate beneath the edge has washed out from stormwater. Once the border is loose, pavers spread and the whole field loses pattern.
- Pavers rocking or teetering underfoot. A rocking paver means the bedding sand has migrated or compacted unevenly. In Miami's sandy soils and afternoon downpours, that happens faster than in drier climates because water moves the fines right out from under the stone.
- Low spots holding water more than an hour after rain. That is a base-depth problem, not a paver problem. Miami's heavy summer rain over an under-built base settles the gravel unevenly, and the low spot is the first sign. Ignore it and the paver over it will crack.
- Joint sand vanishing between pavers. When the sand washes out, pavers lose the friction that locks them together. You will see ants farming the joints and weeds sprouting through them first. Then the pavers begin to shift under tire pressure.
- Hairline cracks running through multiple pavers in a row. If the crack line runs in a straight line across three or four stones, the issue is the base underneath, not the pavers themselves. Miami's clay pockets under some yards shrink and swell with moisture and will crack anything set on top unless the base was trenched and stabilized.

AfterReplacement Cost & What's Included

For a targeted Barrette part repair in Miami, expect $295 – $825 for edge restraint replacement, joint sand reapplication, or a small paver patch with base touch-up. A larger paver driveway installation runs $8,260 – $21,240 depending on the square footage, whether we are pulling up and reusing existing pavers, and how much the base needs to be rebuilt. What drives the number up: poor subgrade that needs deeper excavation, a tree root we have to work around, or a driveway slope that requires a retaining edge. What keeps it down: a straightforward teardown and re-bed over a base that is still structurally sound.
Every quote we write in Miami is a written, line-item number before any work starts. The labor, the Barrette parts, the base material, and the haul-away are all on the page. The number on day one is the number on the invoice. If the repair fails inside 365 days, we come back and fix it at no charge. That is the Penhallow standard, and it is in writing every single time.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely check a few things yourself. Flip a paver and read the model stamp. Measure the joint width. Look at whether the edge restraint has pulled free from the spike line. That information helps us give you a faster, more accurate phone estimate. What you should not do is dig out a section of driveway to fix a base problem unless you have a plate compactor and a way to haul off the spoils. We have watched Miami homeowners spend a weekend and half the cost of a pro repair on a base that settles again in June, because hand tamping does not get you to the density a machine will. If it is a small cosmetic patch, go for it. If the base is moving, call us.
If you have a Barrette paver or edge that has failed, call (850) 988-7559 and tell us the model code off the bottom of the stone. We will get you a written number, then pick up the tools.
FAQs

A properly installed Barrette paver driveway in Miami lasts 20 – 30 years for the pavers themselves, though the edge restraints and joint sand typically need refreshing every 3 – 5 years under our heat and rain cycles. Call (850) 988-7559 and we will tell you honestly whether you need a refresh or a rebuild.
A single cracked paver can usually be popped out and replaced with a color-matched piece for a fraction of the cost of redoing the area, provided the base underneath is still stable. If the crack is part of a longer fracture line, the base is the real issue and a patch will fail again. Call (850) 988-7559 for a straight answer.
Most single-part Barrette paver or edge restraint repairs take one visit of 2 – 4 hours, and we can often book within the week once the replacement piece is in hand. Full driveway rebuilds run 2 – 5 days depending on scope. We will give you a written window before work starts.
We stock Barrette-compatible edge restraints, joint sand, and base panels on the truck for common repairs, and we can source exact-match Pavestone and stone-look pavers from our Miami suppliers within two business days. We also keep parts for KraftMaid cabinetry, Cambria countertops, and Silestone surfaces for our remodeling clients. Call (850) 988-7559 and we will confirm availability on the spot.
