Bufftech Driveway & Pavers: The Miami Owner’s Guide
Bufftech driveway and paver products in Miami typically cost $8,260 to $21,240 installed, depending on paver series, square footage, and what’s hiding underneath the old surface. We stock Bufftech-compatible pavers, edge restraints, joint sand, and base materials, and our crew can usually have new pavers on-site within a week. Most Miami homeowners call us after a section of driveway starts sinking, a paver cracks under a delivery truck, or the joint sand washes out after two summers of hard rain and leaves the surface shifting underfoot.
Which Bufftech Models This Applies To
Bufftech manufactures pavers and driveway surfacing products under a few different lines, and the part you need depends on which one was installed. The most common lines we see around Miami are the Estate Series, the Cambridge Cobble, and the Regal Stone collection, each with different thickness tolerances and edge profiles. The quickest way to identify your paver is to measure it: most Buffalo driveway pavers run 60mm or 80mm thick, and the 80mm units are the ones rated for vehicle traffic. If your pavers are 60mm and they’re cracking under a car, that’s the compatibility issue right there. Buffalo also changed some of its color blending for South Florida distribution a few years back, so matching a paver from a 2018 installation by color name alone can leave you with a slightly off shade. We keep a field swatch kit on the truck to match what’s actually in your driveway, not what the old receipt says. On the OEM-versus-aftermarket question, we generally recommend Bufftech OEM pavers for driveway surfaces because the color is blended in the concrete, not sprayed on as a surface coat like some of the cheaper aftermarket units coming through Florida distributors.

Signs Your Bufftech Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
- Pavers sinking in a wheel path. That’s almost always a base failure underneath, not a paver failure. In Miami, our limestone base material breaks down faster than the pavers do, and when it compresses, the surface follows it down.
- Joint sand washing out after heavy rain. South Florida’s afternoon downpours are brutal on paver joints. Once the sand goes, the pavers start shifting against each other and edges chip. Polymeric sand holds better, but even good polymeric joints need redoing every few years in Miami’s rain pattern.
- Cracking along the driveway edge. Edge restraints fail first in Florida heat, especially plastic spikes that pop out of the ground after a year of expansion and contraction. Once the edge is uncontained, pavers start wandering outward.
- White, chalky residue on the surface. That’s efflorescence, calcium salts migrating through the concrete. It’s common on Buffalo pavers in humid climates and usually cosmetic, but it tells you water is moving through the paver body more than it should.
- Oil stains and algae blooms that won’t scrub off. Miami’s heat plus driveway oils create conditions where unsealed pavers absorb stains fast. If your pavers look permanently wet after a rain, the original sealant layer is gone.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
For a Miami driveway, figure $8,260 to $21,240 fully installed, and the spread is driven mostly by square footage, paver thickness, and whether we’re excavating the old base or working over an existing stable one. A straight paver swap on a smaller two-car driveway sits at the lower end; a longer drive with a failed base, new edge restraints, and drainage correction lands higher. Our written price includes paver material, delivery to Miami, base prep, install labor, joint sand, and hauling off the old surface. We don’t hand you a verbal number and hope it sticks. Trevor Nash makes a point of this on every jobsite: give you a number first, then pick up the tools. If the base needs work, we’ll tell you before we start, and the price we wrote down covers what we agreed to. Every Bufftech paver job we do in Miami carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise in writing. If a paver shifts or a joint fails inside a year, we come back and fix it at no charge.
DIY or Call Us?
You can pull a single cracked paver if you have the matching replacement and the base underneath is solid. That’s a two-hour job with a pry bar and some sand. What you shouldn’t do is start pulling pavers out of the middle of the driveway to hunt for a drainage problem. Masonry work looks straightforward until you’re sorting base material in a Miami rainstorm with a half-excavated drive and a permit inspector asking where your erosion control is. And moving 80mm pavers is heavy work; a full driveway’s worth weighs several tons. If more than a handful of pavers are compromised, or the base has settled, call us at (850) 988-7559. We’ll bring the pavers, the base material, and a written number before anything comes out of the ground.
FAQs

Bufftech driveway pavers typically last 20 to 30 years in Miami, but the base layer underneath usually needs attention every 10 to 15 years due to South Florida’s heavy rain and heat cycles. The pavers themselves rarely fail first; the base and edge restraints go before the concrete units do.
A cracked paver cannot be repaired back to structural soundness and should be replaced. Cracks let water into the paver body, and in Miami’s humidity, that water expands and contracts enough to turn a hairline crack into a split paver within a season or two.
Most Miami driveway replacements take three to five working days from excavation to final joint sand, assuming the weather cooperates. Rain delays happen, especially in summer when afternoon storms roll through, but we schedule the work in the window we give you.
We stock Bufftech-compatible pavers in the most popular Miami Driveway colors and sizes at our local supplier, and we’ll handle ordering and delivery for anything we don’t have on hand. You don’t order anything yourself; the paver material is included in our written price.
