CWS Kitchen Remodeling: The Miami Owner’s Guide

If you have CWS kitchen components that are failing or need to be built around, we can match and install compatible cabinetry, countertops, and hardware, with most Miami jobs running $16,520 to $53,100 installed. Most CWS-related kitchen work in Miami takes two to six weeks depending on cabinet line, countertop material, and what we find behind the existing walls. Homeowners usually reach us after a hinge has stripped out of a cabinet frame, a drawer slide has bent, or a laminate counter edge has started peeling near the sink. Sometimes it’s simpler than that: the doors are fine but the finish has worn through in a coastal climate and the whole kitchen needs a refresh before the structure underneath starts to fail.

We’re an independent Miami remodeling contractor. We’re not affiliated with CWS, but we work with CWS cabinetry and related kitchen products regularly enough to know what holds up, what doesn’t, and what needs to be replaced versus what can be repaired.

Which CWS Models This Applies To

CWS cabinetry shows up in Miami kitchens across several eras, and the compatibility question usually comes down to box construction and door overlay, not a model number on a sticker. CWS built both framed and frameless boxes over the years. Framed cabinets have a visible face frame around the front opening, and frameless cabinets are full-overlay with hardware mounted directly to the box sides. You can’t swap doors between those two systems, and you can’t always reuse the existing hinge pattern if you’re ordering new doors. The bore spacing on CWS concealed hinges is typically 35mm, which is industry standard, but some of their older lines used a 42mm pattern that is harder to source aftermarket.

If you’re replacing a CWS drawer box or slide, measure the drawer side height and the extension length before ordering. CWS used undermount slides on their higher-end lines and side-mount ball bearing slides on their builder-grade lines, and they are not interchangeable without modifying the drawer box. We generally recommend OEM CWS hardware when it’s available for a direct match. Where CWS parts have been discontinued, we use quality aftermarket equivalents from Blum or Salice because the mount patterns and load ratings are predictable. For cabinet boxes that are still structurally sound but cosmetically tired, we’ve had good results refacing with new doors and veneers rather than tearing everything out.

Signs Your CWS Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing

  • Hinges pulling out of the cabinet frame. The screw holes in CWS cabinet frames can wallow out over time, especially in Miami’s humidity swings, which make the wood expand and contract through wet and dry seasons. Once the hinge plate wiggles, the door starts to sag and the hinge will eventually tear out completely.
  • Drawer faces separating from the drawer box. CWS drawers on older lines were often glued and stapled at the face. When the glue fails, you get a drawer front that flexes every time you open it. The front may still be fine, but the joint needs to be re-glued or the face reattached with proper fasteners.
  • Laminate peeling at the counter edges near the sink or dishwasher. Moisture gets under the laminate at the seam and slowly lifts it. In Miami, the combination of humidity and frequent rinsing at the sink means this shows up faster than it would in a drier climate. Once water wicks into the substrate, the panel swells and the counter is not repairable in place.
  • Soft-close mechanisms that no longer catch. The small piston inside CWS soft-close hinges and slides wears out or gums up with kitchen grease. The door still closes, but it slams, and that impact accelerates hinge wear. Replacing the soft-close insert is a straightforward fix if the hinge body is still solid.
  • Cabinet boxes pulling away from the wall. In older Miami homes in neighborhoods like Coconut Grove or Shenandoah, we see cabinets that were originally screwed into plaster and lath rather than studs. Over decades, the screws lose their bite and the upper cabinets start tilting forward. That is a structural issue, not a hardware issue, and it needs to be addressed before anything falls.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A walk-in pantry with wood shelving

A full CWS kitchen remodel in Miami runs $16,520 to $53,100 depending on the size of the kitchen and the materials you choose. The lower end of that range covers a compact galley kitchen with stock cabinet replacements and a standard laminate or lower-tier quartz countertop. The upper end covers a larger open kitchen with custom-sized cabinets, Cambria or Silestone quartz, a tile backsplash, and new undercabinet lighting. Smaller jobs sit outside that range: replacing just cabinet doors and drawer fronts might run $4,720 to $15,340, while a backsplash replacement alone is typically $945 to $2,950 in Miami.

Our price is written before work starts. It includes the materials, the labor to remove and dispose of the old components, installation, and a written guarantee. Trevor Nash makes sure the number you get first is the number you pay at the end, with no change orders unless something unexpected is uncovered behind a wall and you approve the adjustment in writing. If anything we install fails inside our 365-Day Done Right Promise window, we come back and fix it at no charge.

DIY or Call Us?

Some CWS kitchen work is genuinely safe to do yourself. Adjusting a hinge so a door sits level, replacing a soft-close insert, or tightening a drawer slide screw are all reasonable homeowner tasks. If a hinge has torn out of the frame, you can try a larger-diameter screw or a wood dowel and glue fix, but if the frame itself is cracked or the box is pulling away from the wall, stop and call us. Upper cabinets carrying a load of dishes and glassware are not something you want to guess at. The same goes for any countertop replacement involving a stone slab. Stone is heavy, and a broken slab turns a straightforward job into an injury or a damaged floor fast.

If you’re not sure whether the problem is a $12 part or a structural failure, call (850) 988-7559 and describe what you’re seeing. We’ll tell you honestly which one it sounds like, and if it needs a pair of eyes on it, the estimate visit is free.
