IKO Bathroom Remodeling: The Miami Owner’s Guide

We stock and install IKO-compatible bathroom remodeling components throughout Miami, with full bathroom remodels typically running $10,620 – $33,040 depending on fixture grade, waterproofing scope, and whether we’re moving plumbing. Most IKO-related failures we see involve shower pans, wall surrounds, and waterproofing membranes that have given out after years of South Florida humidity. If you’ve noticed water staining on the ceiling below, loose tile, or a shower that drains slower than it used to, the IKO component has likely reached the end of its service life.

Which IKO Models This Applies To

IKO manufactures a range of bathroom and wet-area products, but in Miami we mostly encounter their shower pans, acrylic wall surround systems, and waterproofing underlayments. The compatibility gotcha most homeowners don’t know: IKO shower pans are sized to drain location, not just overall footprint. A 32×60 pan with a center drain will not swap directly for a 32×60 with an offset drain without relocating the drain pipe, which is a plumbing change and a different price. When we inspect your bathroom, we check the model number stamped on the underside of the pan or the back of a wall panel, plus the drain center measurement, to match the replacement correctly. We recommend IKO OEM parts when available because the tolerances line up, but there are quality aftermarket pans that work when measured carefully. Penhallow Remodeling Miami is an independent contractor, not affiliated with IKO, which means we’re free to recommend the right fix whether that’s an IKO part or a better option for your specific bathroom.

Signs Your IKO Bathroom Remodeling Is Failing

  • Water staining on the ceiling below the bathroom. A cracked IKO shower pan or a failed drain gasket lets water through slowly, saturating the subfloor before you ever see it on the bathroom floor itself.
  • Loose or hollow-sounding tile around the shower base. The waterproofing membrane behind the tile has delaminated from the substrate (the moisture-resistant backer layer under your tile), and the tile is now floating over a wet base.
  • Musty odor that won’t go away no matter how much you clean. Mold has taken hold behind the wall surround. Once it’s in the drywall or backer board, surface cleaning won’t touch it.
  • Slow drainage that isn’t a clog. An aged IKO pan can settle or flex, changing the slope toward the drain. If you’ve snaked the line and it still puddles, the pan itself has failed.
  • Caulk that cracks or pulls away within weeks of re-caulking. The pan or surround is moving. Caulk is a flexible seal, but it can’t bridge a pan that flexes every time someone stands in it.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

In Miami, IKO shower pan replacement alone lands between $3,540 and $10,030 depending on whether the drain moves and what waterproofing repairs the subfloor needs. A full IKO bathroom remodel runs $10,620 – $33,040, and the range comes down to three things: whether you’re keeping the existing plumbing layout, what fixture grade you choose (we install Kohler and Moen alongside our warranty), and how much waterproofing rebuild is required once we open the walls. Every job gets a written price before we start. That written number includes the IKO or equivalent part, labor, removal of the failed component, waterproofing to Miami code, and our 365-Day Done Right Promise. If the repair fails inside a year, we come back and fix it at no charge. No service call fee, no re-inspection charge.

DIY or Call Us?

A failed IKO shower pan or waterproofing membrane is not a weekend project. The risk is structural: by the time you see water staining, the subfloor is often compromised, and pulling a pan without addressing what’s underneath means your new pan fails the same way inside a year. What you can safely do: inspect the ceiling below for the extent of staining, check the drain for debris, and take photos of the model number if you can find it. Call us at (850) 988-7559 and describe what you see. We’ll give you a written estimate before any work starts. Give you a number first, then pick up the tools.
