Moen Bathroom Remodeling: The Miami Owner’s Guide
If you have a Moen faucet, shower valve, or tub fixture that’s leaking, corroded, or simply worn past its prime, a full bathroom remodel in Miami typically runs $10,620 – $33,040 installed, depending on the scope of what you’re replacing. We stock the common Moen cartridges, trim kits, and replacement valves on our service trucks, so many Moen-specific repairs can be handled on the first visit. Most homeowners discover the problem the way you probably did: a drip that won’t stop, a handle that suddenly spins free, or water pressure that tanked overnight. The good news is that Moen parts are among the most rebuildable in the industry, which means the fix is often a $35 cartridge rather than a $900 new valve. We’re an independent remodeling contractor serving Miami, not a Moen-owned entity, but we work with their line every week because it’s what most homes here already have behind the wall.
Which Moen Models This Applies To
Moen has built bathroom fixtures under a long list of series names over the years, and the compatibility gotcha is real: a cartridge from a Moen Chateau faucet won’t fit a Moentrol shower valve, and a Posi-Temp valve takes a different cartridge than a Moen ExactTemp thermostatic valve. Most Miami homes built from the 1980s through the 2010s have either a Moen Posi-Temp (single-handle pressure-balancing valve) or a Moen Moentrol (volume-and-temperature dual-function valve) behind the shower wall. Newer builds often have Moen ExactTemp or Moen ioDIGITAL controls. The quickest way to identify what you have is to pop the handle trim plate off and read the stamped number on the escutcheon or the brass valve body. We can match it from a photo in most cases, and we stock the 1222 and 1225 cartridges (the two most common in this market) on the truck. For anything older or discontinued, we order genuine Moen OEM parts rather than risking an aftermarket cartridge that seats slightly off and drips again in eight months.

Signs Your Moen Bathroom Remodeling Is Failing
- Persistent drip from the tub spout or showerhead. This is almost always a worn cartridge seat or a failed O-ring. On Moen fixtures it’s repairable in most cases without opening the wall, but if the valve body itself is pitted from years of Miami hard water, replacement becomes the smarter spend.
- Handle turns hard or won’t hold temperature. A pressure-balancing spool that’s seized from mineral buildup means sudden temperature swings while you’re showering. This is a safety problem, not just an annoyance, and it’s one we flag immediately on inspection.
- Water pressure drops to a trickle on the hot or cold side. Debris in the cartridge inlet is the usual culprit. Miami’s municipal water carries sediment that eventually clogs the small inlet ports on Moen valves.
- Grout and caulk failing around the valve trim plate. Moisture getting behind the wall from a slow cartridge leak rots the cement board substrate (the water-resistant layer behind your tile) long before you see it on the surface.
- Visible corrosion on the trim or rust streaks below the handle. High humidity and salt air in Miami neighborhoods like Coconut Grove and Coral Gables accelerate metal fatigue. Once chrome trim starts pitting, the underlying valve is often not far behind.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
A focused Moen fixture replacement, meaning new valve, trim, showerhead, and tub spout with no tile work, typically lands between $3,540 and $10,030 installed in Miami. A full bathroom remodel that includes new Moen fixtures alongside tile, vanity, and possibly layout changes runs $10,620 – $33,040. What drives the number is access: if we can reach the valve from the back side of a closet wall, you save the cost of tile demo and repair. If the valve is buried behind a tiled shower wall, we open the wall, replace the valve and riser, install new cement board, and retile. Every bid includes the parts, labor, clean-up, and our 365-Day Done Right Promise in writing. We give you a written price before we pick up a tool, and that number on day one is the number on your invoice. As Trevor Nash likes to put it: give you a number first, then pick up the tools.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely pop off the handle and trim plate with a Phillips screwdriver to check for a stamped part number, and you can shut off the water supply to the bathroom and remove the cartridge retainer clip if you have a Moen cartridge puller. What we’d caution against is attempting a full valve replacement through the front of the tile wall. That job involves cutting into the substrate, sweating or crimping copper supply lines, soldering near framing, and waterproofing the repair correctly so it doesn’t rot out in Miami’s humidity. We’ve been called out to Coconut Grove homes more than once where a well-intentioned DIY valve swap left the new fixture sitting in a damp wall cavity. If you just need a cartridge swapped and you’re comfortable doing it, order the OEM Moen part and go. If water is involved behind the wall, call us at (850) 988-7559 and we’ll get it done right.
FAQs

Moen cartridges typically last 8 to 15 years in Miami before hard water and sediment take their toll, though the chrome trim often shows corrosion earlier due to salt air and humidity. The brass valve body itself can last 30-plus years if it was installed correctly and the water pressure was within normal residential range.
In most cases yes: Moen cartridges are designed to be pulled and replaced without tearing out the wall, and that’s a $180 – $400 repair versus a $3,500-plus valve replacement. We’ll tell you honestly if the valve body is too pitted to hold a new cartridge seal, and we’ll show you the damage before recommending replacement.
A straightforward cartridge replacement takes about an hour on site. A full valve replacement with wall repair and retile is a two-day job, including time for mortar and grout to cure before the water is turned back on. We’ll give you the timeline in writing when we give you the price.
We keep the common Moen 1222 and 1225 cartridges, trim kits, and valve assemblies on our trucks. For discontinued or thermostatic Moen valves, we order genuine OEM parts from our supplier network and schedule the install once they arrive, usually within five business days. We also work with KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone when the project expands beyond the fixture itself.
If your Moen bathroom fixture is dripping, losing pressure, or just showing its age, call us at (850) 988-7559 for a free estimate. You’ll get a written price before anything gets touched, and a live person will answer when you call.
