Plant Prefab Driveway & Pavers: The Miami Owner’s Guide
Plant Prefab driveway and paver work in Miami typically runs $8,260 – $21,240 for a full paver driveway installation, and we carry compatible pavers and edge restraints for most Plant Prefab site-built driveways on our trucks. Most owners notice the problem the same way: a paver shifts under the car tire, a corner of the driveway sinks after a hard rain, or the edge restraint pops loose and sand starts washing out onto the sidewalk. If you’re seeing any of that, the part that failed is rarely the paver itself. It’s usually what’s underneath.
We’re an independent Miami contractor, not a Plant Prefab dealer or affiliate. That matters because we’re free to recommend the right fix for your specific driveway rather than steering you toward whatever’s on a shelf. Trevor Nash and our team have rebuilt enough South Florida driveways to know that Miami’s limestone soil and summer downpours punish driveway bases harder than almost anything else on the property.
Which Plant Prefab Models This Applies To

Plant Prefab homes ship with site-built driveways, which means the pavers, base, and edge restraints are installed by local subcontractors using locally sourced materials. That’s good news for you: there’s no proprietary Plant Prefab paver size or interlock pattern you’re locked into. The pavers on a Plant Prefab driveway are industry-standard concrete or clay pavers, usually 60mm or 80mm thick, in running bond or herringbone layout. What varies is what the original installer put underneath, and in Miami that’s where the trouble starts.
If you’re matching an existing section rather than replacing the whole driveway, pull a loose paver and measure it. Common sizes are 4″x8″, 6″x6″, and 6″x9″. The brand is usually stamped on the underside. Belgard and Unilock pavers are what we install most in Miami, and both have open-stock colors that match Plant Prefab’s typical installation palette. If the original installer used a paver that’s been discontinued, we can usually match it within one shade, or re-lay the section in a deliberate accent border so the change looks planned rather than patched.
One compatibility gotcha worth knowing: if your Plant Prefab home was built after 2018, the driveway may use a permeable paver system with wider joints and a specialized open-graded base. You can tell by looking at the gaps between pavers. Permeable paver joints are visibly wider, about 1/4″ to 3/8″, and filled with small angular stone instead of fine sand. If you have that system, standard sand won’t work as a refill. We stock the correct ASTM #8 or #9 joint stone on our trucks so we don’t have to make a second trip.

Signs Your Plant Prefab Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
- A paver rocks underfoot or under the car. The sand bedding layer has washed out from beneath the paver, usually because the edge restraint let go. If you can wobble a paver with your foot, water is already getting under the surrounding pavers and the problem will spread.
- Sand or stone dust washes onto the sidewalk after every rain. That’s the joint sand leaving the driveway. In Miami’s summer storms, a failing edge restraint can flush out joint sand in a single season, and once the joints are empty, pavers start shifting against each other and chipping.
- A low spot collects water more than 48 hours after rain. The base underneath that section has settled or eroded. Standing water on pavers accelerates base failure and grows algae, which turns the surface slick. In Miami, a puddle that lingers is a sign your base is no longer doing its job.
- The paver edge along the lawn or curb is spreading outward. The plastic or aluminum edge restraint has broken or lifted, and the outer course of pavers is slowly walking sideways. This is the most common failure we see on Plant Prefab driveways in Miami, especially where lawn sprinklers run close to the edge.
- Hairline cracks appear in individual pavers, usually near the garage apron. A paver that cracks instead of flexing means the base directly beneath it has a void. The paver is bridging a gap. It’ll keep cracking until the base is repaired, and replacing the paver alone just moves the problem to the next one.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

In Miami, full paver driveway installation runs $8,260 – $21,240 depending on square footage, base depth, and whether we’re reusing any existing pavers. A partial repair, like replacing a sunken section or rebuilding the edge, usually lands between $1,500 and $5,000. You’re paying for the excavation and haul-off of the old base, new compacted limestone base (4″ – 6″ in Miami, deeper if your soil is sandy), an inch of bedding sand, the pavers themselves, joint sand, edge restraints, and our labor. We don’t do change orders on driveway work. The number we write down before we start is the number on your invoice.
A few things move your price within that range. Paver style matters: basic 60mm pavers cost less than 80mm pavers or a permeable system with engineered base. Drainage matters more: if your driveway slopes toward the house and we need to correct grade or add a channel drain, that’s extra labor and materials. And if tree roots have grown under the existing driveway, removal and root barrier add cost. We’ll tell you all of that before we start, in writing, because the Kingswell standard says the price gets written down before a single shovel goes in the ground. Every paver job includes our 365-Day Done Right Promise. If the driveway settles or the edge fails within that year, we come back and fix it at no charge.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely check a few things yourself. Walk the driveway after a rain and mark low spots with chalk. Pull one loose paver and measure its thickness and dimensions. Lift a section of edge restraint and see if it’s snapped or just pulled away from the pavers. That information helps us give you a tighter phone estimate, and you won’t hurt anything by looking.
What we don’t recommend is re-laying pavers yourself as a fix. The problem is under the pavers, not on top of them. If you pull pavers, re-level the sand, and put them back without repairing the base and edge restraint, you’ll have the same failure after the next Miami rainy season. Pavers are also heavy in a way that surprises people: a 6″x9″x80mm paver weighs about 12 pounds each, and a typical two-car driveway has more than 3,000 of them. That’s 18 tons of material. It’s not a weekend project with a wheelbarrow. Call us at (850) 988-7559 and we’ll give you a number first, then pick up the tools.
FAQs

A properly installed paver driveway in Miami should last 25 – 30 years for the pavers themselves, but the base and edge restraints typically need attention every 10 – 15 years in our climate because of heavy rain, sandy soil, and occasional tropical storm flooding. Call (850) 988-7559 if you’re seeing settling or edge failure, and we’ll tell you over the phone whether it’s a simple repair or a full rebuild.
Yes, most driveway failures in Miami are localized, and we can repair a sunken section, rebuild an edge, or replace a cracked paver run without touching the rest of the driveway. The repair still gets a written price and the same 365-Day Done Right Promise. We’ll only recommend full replacement when the base has failed across most of the driveway. Call (850) 988-7559 for a free estimate.
Most partial repairs are done in one day. A full driveway replacement in Miami typically takes 3 – 5 working days from excavation to final compaction and joint sand. We bring the pavers, base stone, and edge restraints with us on day one, and we protect your lawn and irrigation from the excavator tracks. Call (850) 988-7559 and we’ll give you a written timeline with your written price.
We stock common Miami paver sizes including 4″x8″, 6″x6″, and 6″x9″ in the tan, gray, and coral tone blends you see on most South Florida driveways, from Belgard and Unilock. If your existing pavers are a discontinued color or non-standard size, we’ll source a close match and show you the sample on your driveway before we install. Call (850) 988-7559 and we’ll check our truck stock while you’re on the phone.
